On 25th September 2008 over 200 excited Twitter (http://twitter.com/) fans gathered in London for the first ever Twestival. Madhouse loved the project and was all over it: website, entertainment, film crew, and 10 people to staff the event. Guess what? *It rocked*.
Four months down the line, Obama is President, Jonathan Ross returns to the BBC, and Twitter has gone mainstream. Woop! Time for a party. And this time, 120+ cities are going to join us…
The event is sponsored by companies including Microsoft, Amiando, Tipjoy and Mashable, and all proceedings will go directly to charity:water, a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.
The London event takes place on 12th February 2009 and is hosted at fabulous new venue near Old Street called Shoreditch Studios. The space holds around 500 people and tickets were sold out in under and hour, with the last ten tickets going for £50 a piece.
Renate Nyborg (@renate) from Madhouse is responsible for Music & Entertainment for the London event, Sinead Coffey is overseeing event design and the Blonde Ambition DJs are choosing the soundtrack. IT’S GONNA BE A MAD ONE…
